I recently experienced a layoff from HCA where I worked as a healthcare analyst in the operations department. My severance package was decent, but I was left uncertain about my health insurance and retirement benefits. Management described the layoffs as part of a restructuring effort, but they didn't clarify whether my specific role would be moved overseas or if any work would remain in the U.S. Interestingly, I heard that former employees were encouraged to reapply for different roles, even if they were lower-paid, which felt disheartening.
