I recently faced a layoff after working as a CRM builder and customizer for 15 years. However, my latest position at a major salt company took a turn for the worse. Despite being hired as a full-time employee, my suggestions regarding architecture and processes were ignored. After about 1.5 years, I found myself with too much access to sensitive systems, which I suspect led to my layoff due to audits after the company took a significant loan. It's frustrating because I'm not focused on prestige anymore; I just want to have a stable income. The job market feels absurd right now, with many positions requiring rapid turnaround times that are unrealistic for a single person to manage. Companies are hesitant to hire me as a contractor, preferring to have full control over their employees, which often leads to a toxic environment. I’ve considered starting my own firm, but my capital is tied up in investments. I’m currently working on obtaining more certifications, but I’m not sure how much they will help in this challenging job market. It feels like a never-ending cycle of uncertainty.
