I recently graduated with a BFA in art education and realized that the education field isn't the right fit for me. I've spent the last 20 months working as an office administrator at a college, handling tasks like travel settlements and budget tracking, but I'm looking for a full-time role that aligns better with my interests. I just interviewed for a new position at my alma mater related to college admissions, which offers a 14% pay increase from my current salary of around $35,000 to about $40,000. However, I'm currently enrolled in an MBA program and another certificate program, which come with a tuition waiver worth approximately $8,500. This waiver would significantly offset my tuition costs, which would be around $10,000 over the next eight months. I have some savings, but I want to be cautious with my finances, especially since I enjoy traveling and want to keep my savings for emergencies. I was recently turned down for a marketing director role that would have nearly doubled my salary due to my lack of relevant experience, so I'm hoping this new admissions job could provide me with the experience I need. I also do some painting commissions and design work on the side, but I'm eager for a stable full-time career. I'm weighing whether this job switch is worth it, especially since it would mean leaving my current role in under two years, which might look like job-hopping. I’m an introvert but enjoy helping others, and both positions seem to have supportive environments. The new job would require occasional evenings and weekends, but those seem rare. I’m also considering the cost of living since rent is higher in the new area, but I would likely move in with my partner to manage expenses. The new location is a town, which I prefer over my current city, and it’s closer to some friends, though a bit farther from family. I’m feeling a bit lost and would appreciate any advice from those with more experience in making such decisions.
