I'm currently at a crossroads in my career and trying to decide whether to stay in my current remote role or take a new opportunity in the city that offers a 12% salary increase. My current organization has been laying off employees consistently, which adds a layer of anxiety about job security. On the other hand, the severance package here is quite generous if I do get laid off. I've been actively applying for new positions, even leveraging referrals, but I haven't had much luck converting those applications into recruiter calls. When I do get interviews, many offers don't match my current compensation, and I've unfortunately flunked some interviews for roles that seemed promising. Additionally, I've switched jobs multiple times in the past, so I'm mindful of how another move might be perceived. I really need to make this next decision count and avoid another short stint. I'm leaning towards the new role, but I would appreciate any advice or insights from others who have faced similar decisions.
