I was laid off for the second time in less than a year, and it's really frustrating. I had been with my previous company for 6 years before getting laid off in December 2025. I was already on the job hunt during that time and managed to secure a new position as an internal Product Manager in early January. Unfortunately, after only 10 months, I was let go last Friday. It was a pretty harsh experience; I was just locked out of everything at 8 AM without any prior notice, and then I received an email at my personal address. I was the only product manager affected, which stings a bit, but I remind myself it wasn't personal since I was the only internal PM. One of my engineers was also laid off. Things took a turn for the worse when we got a new head of product in July. His leadership has been disastrous; he brought in his own connections, all men, and gave them leadership roles immediately. Since June, we haven't had a CTO, and the engineers have lost trust in the head of product because he just demands results without providing any clear direction. He’s fixated on launching a new mobile app and has laid off all the mobile developers, which is baffling. I had already started job searching a month ago as I could see the writing on the wall, but it still hurts. I'm reaching out for advice, especially from fellow product managers who have faced multiple layoffs in a short period. How do you bounce back? I have 3 years of experience as a PM, but it feels discouraging. I'm leveraging my network and have a few leads that I'm cautiously optimistic about, but the job market is tough right now. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
