I'm a 36-year-old crane operator based in Maryland with an A Class CDL. I've been in the construction industry for 7 years, and I initially loved my job. However, after my company was bought out, the work environment has drastically changed for the worse. The new management has turned it into a place where we are overworked and underpaid. The union even advised us privately that the situation is dire and encouraged us to look for new opportunities. Overtime pay is inconsistent, and I've seen many colleagues downgrade their positions due to the poor management. I’m feeling stuck and exhausted, and I know I need to transition to a different field. My wife has a stable job, so I have the option to take a month or two off to figure things out. I’m reaching out for advice on what other career paths I might consider. I’m open to exploring new opportunities but just feel lost right now.
