I’ve reached a breaking point in my current role and honestly, I’m considering whether it might be easier to just get fired. I’ve been applying to jobs for a while now but haven’t had any luck landing interviews, and the stress is really wearing me down. I haven’t taken a proper vacation since 2011, and the only time off I’ve had was for surgery. I feel completely exhausted and overwhelmed. Things at work keep getting worse, and I just need a break to sort my life out. I’m wondering if I stopped showing up, would they fire me without contesting my unemployment? I really need to understand how this works because I’m in desperate need of some time to recharge and find a less demanding job that would make me happier. I’ve seen some comments suggesting I talk to management about my situation, but I’m not sure how to approach that. I just feel so burnt out and I’m not sure what my best course of action is right now.

I'm currently a salaried store manager making around $44k a year, but I'm feeling completely burnt out and overwhelmed. The pay is decent for my area, but the benefits are minimal, and I just can't handle the stress of managing people anymore. It's tough to hire part-timers because my company doesn't pay well, and I'm constantly covering shifts for others without any extra compensation for my overtime. My mental and emotional health is suffering, especially since I have ADHD and other neurodivergent challenges that make this job even harder. I've been crying about it for days and I'm considering taking a part-time job, even if it pays less, just to escape this situation. Am I crazy for wanting to leave a stable salary for something less? I just need to prioritize my well-being.
