I am currently in the background check phase of my job search after applying for a new position. My official job title at my previous company was "Facilities Technician - HVAC", but I have gained experience in other areas beyond just HVAC. To better reflect my skills and to avoid being pigeonholed, I updated my resume and application to list my title simply as "Facilities Technician". I am concerned that this change might raise red flags during the background check process. I want to ensure that HR doesn’t dismiss my application based solely on the HVAC designation, but I’m wondering if altering the title could lead to any issues.
