I've been applying to jobs since I got laid off, and I've noticed that tailoring my resume for each application takes an incredibly long time—around 2 hours per application. I carefully read through the job descriptions, think about my 37 years of relevant experience, add in the necessary keywords, proofread everything, and then submit it through their websites. I'm starting to wonder if this is a normal amount of time to spend on each application or if I'm just overthinking the whole process. I've received some advice suggesting the use of AI tools to help streamline this, but I'm still figuring out the best approach.
