I recently experienced a frustrating situation at my company where I was laid off as a part of a larger reduction in force. The company decided to give us a five-month notice period before our final day, which feels unnecessarily drawn out. I reached out to HR to inquire about our severance contracts, and they informed me that we won’t receive them for another 4.5 months. It’s disheartening to be left in limbo like this. To add to the confusion, the senior executive who delivered the layoff news has scheduled monthly meetings to check in on our feelings. These meetings will include both those who have been laid off and those who remain. It feels incredibly disingenuous to me. After dedicating so much to this company and making numerous sacrifices, being treated like this is painful. Now, they want to know how I feel after they’ve already decided to let me go? It’s a mind-boggling situation.
