  1. 1

I recently received an offer for a new position in the front office after spending 9 years as a screen burner at a screen printing shop where we mainly produce t-shirts. While I initially thought the office role would be a good fit, after several days of training, I’m starting to have serious doubts. The job involves using art software to place artwork on digital templates for 8 hours a day, and the workspace is incredibly cramped—I can barely turn in my chair. I don’t feel a connection with the team up there, and to top it off, I don’t think there’s any pay increase associated with this new role. I find myself torn between the fear of regretting the decision to take the position and the worry of missing out if I don’t. The trainer has invested time in teaching me the ropes, which adds to my guilt about potentially backing out. It’s a strange situation because I still work in production and only go to the office for training when I have the time, so nothing will change immediately. I’m just feeling really conflicted about whether it’s wrong to reconsider this opportunity.
