I've been job searching for the past two years with a B.A. in International Development and an M.A. in Political Science. Despite my efforts, I've only landed two interviews during this time. I’m currently working with an employment counselor from World Skills to review my applications, but I still feel stuck and demoralized. The long duration of my job search has left me feeling ashamed, and I worry that this stigma will follow me into any future job I might get. I’m looking for advice on how to cope with this situation, as I know I’m not alone in this struggle. Some suggestions I’ve received include exploring job opportunities beyond my specific degrees, such as roles in NGOs, research, communications, and project coordination. I’m open to any tips or support from others who have faced similar challenges.
