  1. 1

I am currently in the final stages of interviewing for a manager role at a company, and I expect to receive an offer soon with a start date in mid-November. However, I have a wedding planned for mid-January, which will require me to take two to three weeks off for travel and events. I’m feeling a bit anxious about how to approach this situation, especially since January is typically a busy time in my industry. I have a few questions that I hope to get some guidance on: 1) When is the best time to bring this up? Should I mention it as soon as I receive a verbal offer, during negotiations, or after I officially accept the position? 2) How should I frame my request for time off? 3) What’s a realistic expectation for my request? Is it reasonable to ask for unpaid leave, to borrow against future PTO, or to work remotely for part of my trip as a new manager starting just before a busy period? 4) Has anyone else navigated a similar situation? Did it impact how you were perceived in the early days of your new job, or did the company handle it well? I want to be honest and upfront about my situation without jeopardizing the offer. Any advice from those who have been in a similar position or from hiring managers would be greatly appreciated.
