Applied at Circle K for part-time nightshift position

I recently applied for a part-time nightshift position at a Circle K gas station in my area. After submitting my resume, I was called in for an interview with the shop owner. During our conversation, he mentioned that he could hire me, but I would need to undergo a two-week unpaid training period without any contract. I found this unacceptable and decided to refuse the offer. It seems that unpaid training is unfortunately common in this type of work, but I felt it was important to stand my ground on this issue.
