    Applied to a Job Feeling Planning Thinking

    I received an email inviting me to interview for a position I applied for in another city, which I was really excited about after months of applying and facing dead ends. The interview is virtual and with a panel. They provided two time slots, and I quickly replied with my preferred time. However, it's been two days, and I haven't heard back from them. I'm currently working a 9-5 job that doesn't pay well, so I'm eager for this opportunity. I'm wondering if I should follow up now or wait until the interview date gets closer. I’ve heard mixed advice on this; some say to follow up right away, while others suggest being patient. I'm leaning towards sending a quick follow-up just to confirm they received my response.

    Applied to a Job Feeling Planning Thinking

    I’ve been feeling really stuck lately in my job search. I currently make $53,000 a year before taxes, and after three years in my role, I’m struggling with a lot of debt from grad school. I have a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree and three years of experience working in state government. Despite applying to dozens of jobs over the past year, I’ve only landed one interview, which I almost got, but they chose someone else at the last minute. It’s been incredibly frustrating to either get ghosted or receive generic rejection emails after applying for governmental relations positions in the private sector and other public sector roles. I really want to move to a bigger city where the cost of living is higher, but so are the salaries. I’m hoping that a change of scenery might help me find better opportunities.
