I was recently laid off after 25 years with the same company in the media and newspaper industry. I know this industry has been struggling for a while, but it was my entire career. I started in customer service, worked my way up to management, and most recently managed offshore teams after much of the company was outsourced. Now, my position is being replaced by AI, along with many others in the company. I'm feeling completely lost. As a single woman in my late 40s with a teenage son and a mortgage, I don't have a degree and haven't applied for jobs or gone through interviews in decades. I truly don't know what to do next. I recognize that many others are in similar situations, but navigating this feels overwhelming and hopeless.
