I recently moved from Texas to Washington a couple of months ago, and I'm trying to navigate the unemployment benefits system here. I need to apply for unemployment in Washington to help cover my rent while I search for a new job. However, there's a complication: I still have an old unemployment claim from Texas that I can't access or cancel because the benefits have lapsed. This means I can't sign up for unemployment in Washington until I get that Texas claim canceled. I've tried reaching out to the Texas unemployment office, but I haven't found a way to manually cancel the claim myself. Every time I attempt to register for benefits in Washington, they inform me that I still have an active claim in Texas that needs to be addressed first. It's been incredibly frustrating dealing with this bureaucratic nightmare, and I'm at a loss for what to do next.
