I’ve been unemployed for about six months now, and I’m feeling really defeated. Despite tailoring my resume for every job I apply to and having it reviewed by numerous people, I haven’t landed a single interview. It’s frustrating to be either overqualified or underqualified, or simply overlooked in such a competitive job market. Just today, I received an email about a position I applied for back in May, informing me that they’ve decided to move forward with other candidates. I was let go from my last job and have been trying to maintain connections there, but it’s tough since everyone is so busy. I’ve had countless one-on-ones that lead nowhere, with people giving me the same advice: keep applying and networking. I had been chasing a promotion for two years before a managerial transition led to my termination, and now I feel stuck. Reaching out for help has become exhausting, especially when it feels so one-sided. I’ve spent a year and a half connecting with former colleagues, but I’m not getting any support in return. My unemployment benefits are about to run out, and I’m stressed about bills piling up and my dwindling savings. I’m starting to consider options I never thought I would, like taking a job that goes against my morals just to make ends meet. I feel lost and overwhelmed.
