I was laid off from my role at Claude, and honestly, I had a gut feeling this was coming. The executives believe that AI can handle everything I was doing—managing a data warehouse, building custom tools, handling support tickets, maintaining servers, and developing new product features. They’ve deemed my entire job redundant because of this. While I understand that AI can assist with some tasks, it still requires knowledgeable people to operate effectively. I didn’t have the mental energy to argue my case during the meeting and ended up just accepting the severance agreement. Now, I feel numb and uncertain about my future in the tech industry.
