I recently faced a setback in my job search as a recent Computer Science graduate. I applied for a junior tech position and felt that the interview went really well; it was more of a casual conversation than a formal interrogation. However, I received a rejection email stating that they chose candidates whose experience aligned more closely with their tech stack. When I requested specific feedback, they mentioned that they preferred candidates with prior industry experience, either through internships or university projects. This left me wondering if it's common for junior roles to be filled by candidates with industry experience, especially since I was applying for an entry-level position. Additionally, I noticed a discrepancy in the reasons given for the rejection between the initial email and the feedback I received. I’m also curious about how to demonstrate genuine interest in an industry when I haven’t had the opportunity to intern in it. If anyone has insights or similar experiences, I would really appreciate your thoughts!
