I just received the unfortunate news that I'm being let go from my position effective immediately. My employer will continue to pay me through the end of October, which gives me a little cushion. I'm currently trying to figure out the best time to apply for unemployment benefits here in Ohio. Should I start the application process now, or do I need to wait until after my last paycheck comes in? I'm really hoping to secure a new job before the end of the month, but I want to be prepared just in case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
