I've been working at my current job for 8 months now, and I can't shake the feeling that my boss isn't invested in my professional growth. I know I’m overqualified for my position, but with the job market being what it is, I feel stuck here. In the time I've been with the company, my boss has promoted six people who started around the same time or even later than I did to clinical site leads. I have no interest in managing teams or projects; my passion lies in research analysis. I've tried to express my interest in shadowing the analysis process, but my boss just tells me that a third-party company handles that and suggests I make myself more visible to clients, without offering any concrete steps on how to do so. After several attempts to engage with him on this, I've started to lose hope. I would have appreciated some real guidance instead of the generic thank-you's I get when I leave work. I took this job thinking it would lead to growth, but I feel invisible and unappreciated, especially in such a tough job market.
