I'm currently in a tough spot as I prepare for heart surgery, which is scheduled soon. At just 18, I've been searching for a job for over a year, focusing on minimum wage positions like fast food or childcare, but I've had no luck. I graduated high school and had to postpone college due to my financial situation, which has been really hard on me. With the upcoming surgery, I'll be in the hospital for about a week, and then I won't be able to lift anything for 6-8 weeks. This means I can't do jobs like DoorDash or Uber, especially since I don't have a car. The jobs I've been applying for now seem impossible to pursue because I won't be available during peak times like the holidays. I'm worried about how this surgery will impact my family's finances and my future. I want to stay productive and find a way to make some money during my recovery, but I'm unsure about my options. I know remote work is often degree-specific, and I don't have one, so I'm hesitant to even try. I'm feeling lost and would appreciate any advice on finding remote gig work or any other options that might be available for someone in my situation. What would you do if you were me?
