I recently graduated from university and am facing a decision about my first full-time job. I have an immediate offer from Company 1 and I'm currently in the hiring process with Company 2, which is through my university's on-campus placements. Company 2 hasn't sent the official offer letter yet, but I expect the joining date to be in about two months. Since this is an on-campus opportunity, they are not looking for candidates with prior full-time work experience. I'm considering accepting the offer from Company 1 to avoid being unemployed. If I later receive the offer from Company 2, I would resign from Company 1 after working there for 1–2 months. I have a few questions: Should I inform Company 2 about my brief stint at Company 1? Could taking the job at Company 1 cause any issues with Company 2, given that it's an on-campus role? I'm particularly looking for insights from those familiar with Indian hiring practices and background checks, as I am based in India.
