I recently received a job offer as a new grad nurse at a hospital, which is contingent on my graduation and passing the NCLEX. The position pays $39 an hour and includes a $20,000 hiring bonus, which is structured as $10,000 at my first paycheck, $5,000 after one year, and the remaining $5,000 after two years. However, I don’t have a written contract yet, as that won’t come until August. I also have an interview lined up next week with another hospital that offers the same hourly rate of $39 but no hiring bonus. They did mention they might be flexible on pay based on experience. I’m considering attending this interview to see if I could negotiate a higher pay rate, perhaps asking for $44 an hour to compensate for the lack of a bonus. I’m trying to figure out if it makes sense to go through with the second interview or if I should focus on the offer I already have. I’ve received advice suggesting that I should definitely go to the interview since I have nothing to lose. What do you think?
