  1. 1

I recently accepted a contract-to-hire position because I was in urgent need of a job and income. I started onboarding for this role, which pays $22/hr, and my first day is just two days away. However, I also received a call from another company where I had applied over a month ago, inviting me for a final interview with their Regional Director. They haven't disclosed the pay yet, but I mentioned I was looking for $31/hr, which falls within their range. The catch is that the contract-to-hire job is located 1.5 hours away, while the potential new job is slightly closer at 1.25 hours. I'm feeling quite conflicted about this situation. If I were to quit the contract job for the new opportunity, would I risk damaging my relationship with the staffing agency or the company I'm currently working for? I'm unsure of the best path forward and would appreciate any advice.
