I’m currently feeling overwhelmed and anxious about my job security at my company, where I work in a role focused on implementing AI workflows and streamlining processes. Over the past year, I’ve dedicated myself to adapting to the company’s push for automation, believing I was adding value and aligning with their vision. However, it seems my efforts have only made my position more vulnerable as leadership appears to be using these changes to justify potential layoffs. I’ve noticed a significant shift in how I’m treated at work; I’m being excluded from important meetings and left out of critical information loops. Recently, the company announced an acquisition, which has only added to my stress. I feel like I’m being set up as the scapegoat for issues that arise, despite my attempts to document my work and communicate effectively with my team. I’m constantly trying to identify operational gaps and streamline processes, but the pressure is mounting, and I’m reaching a point of burnout. My one-on-ones with management yield vague feedback, and I’m left feeling isolated as my peers seem to distance themselves from me. I’m actively applying for new jobs, but the current job market is daunting, and the thought of an impending layoff is making me physically ill. I’ve been experiencing severe anxiety, even to the point of vomiting from stress. I feel like I’m walking through a minefield every day, trying to maintain my position while being pushed toward redundancy. I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has faced a similar situation during a company restructuring and how they coped with the stress.

I’m a chronically ill woman facing a tough job market as remote positions seem to be disappearing. I've been living with chronic pain and various health conditions like CFS, POTS, and endometriosis, which make it incredibly difficult for me to work in traditional roles. During the pandemic, I saw a rise in workforce participation among people like me, but now it feels like those opportunities are vanishing. I've posted about my job search in different forums, and the advice I often receive is frustrating and unrealistic given my situation. Suggestions like going to trade school or starting a business don’t take into account my health limitations. I’ve tried starting various small businesses like pet sitting and babysitting, but none have provided me with a stable income. I’m currently facing another layoff and feel completely burned out. The competition for remote jobs is fierce, and it seems that many people who don’t have medical needs are taking the limited available positions. I’ve lost every job that required me to be in the office full-time, and now I feel like I’m running out of options. It’s disheartening to see ableism in hiring practices and the decline of remote work opportunities, especially when so many people with disabilities rely on them to participate in the workforce. I’m in my late 20s and honestly can’t see a future for myself in this economy. Without parental support, I truly don’t know how I would manage.
