I recently had a challenging experience at my current job, where I've been working for over a year. During my performance review, I received excellent feedback and was even told I was on track for a promotion. However, my manager informed me that I wouldn't be promoted until I had my own car, despite my consistent attendance and willingness to stay late when needed. I use public transport, and my manager expressed a lack of trust in my ability to cover shifts because of it. Additionally, when I declined to take a shift due to my fiancée's grandmother being sick, my manager implied that this would hinder my promotion prospects. It felt unprofessional and frustrating, especially since I had been training a new hire who was then promoted over me without even receiving a small raise myself. Today, I received an interview offer from a different company that promises a $3 pay increase. On the application, I stated that I am seeking opportunities for growth and skill development, which my current job does not provide. If the interviewers ask about my reasons for leaving, I wonder if I should mention my manager's comments during the review or stick to my original explanation about seeking growth. I appreciate any advice on how to handle this in a professional manner.
