I've been unemployed in my accounting career since September 2025, and I honestly never imagined I’d still be in this position. To keep the bills paid, I’ve taken labor jobs and other work outside my field. While I'm grateful to be working, it's incredibly frustrating knowing I have years of accounting experience and can’t seem to get back into the profession. I've applied to hundreds of positions, worked with multiple recruiters, and even applied to jobs in other states. I've reached out to former coworkers and managers, updated my résumé countless times, and followed up after interviews and applications. Yet, it’s been rejection after rejection or complete silence. I'm starting to wonder if something has fundamentally changed in the accounting job market, or if I’m just missing something everyone else seems to know. I'm not looking for sympathy; I just want to work in the field I’ve built my career in. Right now, it feels like I’m at my last straw, and I’m hoping someone has advice or a success story that might point me in the right direction.
