I'm currently in the process of transitioning from an Operations/Retail Team Leadership role, where I've spent the last 8 years, into Product Management. I have one year of PM internship experience at Amazon's EU department, where I achieved strong, measurable results. However, I've been facing significant challenges in my job search. Despite tailoring my CV to each role using the XYZ method and quantifying my achievements with real metrics, I keep getting rejected and often don't make it past the ATS screening. I’ve noticed that AI tools sometimes complicate things further by matching my experience too closely to job descriptions, which doesn't take into account my transferable skills. It's frustrating because even roles with the same title can have completely different requirements. Additionally, much of my experience involves Amazon's internal tools, which recruiters outside the company may not recognize. To make matters worse, my own company has eliminated entry-level PM roles, leaving internships as the primary entry point. I'm feeling genuinely exhausted and overwhelmed. It seems like even with proven experience and measurable results, getting an interview in Product Management is becoming increasingly difficult for career changers like me.
