I recently went through three back-to-back interviews for a retail store manager position at a local store, and I was feeling really positive about how everything went. The interviews were high-energy, and the team seemed genuinely excited about my potential fit. They even promised I would hear back within 24 to 48 hours. However, that timeframe came and went without any response. After waiting a few days, I followed up on Tuesday, and the manager I spoke to said she still needed to discuss my application with her boss and assured me she would call me back that same day. Unfortunately, that call never came. I waited the rest of the week, and when I reached out again on Friday, another manager answered and had no idea about my situation. She said she would track down the hiring manager and promised both of them would call me back that day. As the clock struck 6:00 PM on Friday, I was left with complete radio silence. I'm feeling exhausted and confused. If they decided not to hire me, why keep dragging this out and making promises they don't keep? Is this just a sign of poor communication and disorganization in retail management? Has anyone else experienced something similar? Did it lead to a job offer or was it just a long, drawn-out rejection?
