I have been with my company for nearly 25 years, starting as an order entry associate at 18 years old and working my way through various departments. Unfortunately, I was laid off just a month before my 25th anniversary. After 8 months, I was rehired in a different role at a slightly higher pay rate than before, but I can't shake the feeling that my current salary doesn't reflect my long tenure and experience. Now, I'm in a position where I know my pay is not on par with others in similar roles and with similar tenure. I’m considering discussing this with my manager and her manager to see if there’s a possibility to adjust my salary to be more in line with my colleagues. I haven’t had a significant raise since 2002, and with the cost of living increasing, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to manage. I’m a bit hesitant to bring it up, though. Would it be unreasonable to lay out my case for a pay adjustment?
