I've been unemployed since the start of the pandemic and have been living off my savings. With time running out, I'm gearing up to start my job search again. It's a bit daunting since I've been out of the workforce for several years, and I'm feeling the pressure to apply for anything that can help pay the bills. My background is primarily in software development, but I know I need to broaden my horizons and consider jobs that might not be directly related to my previous roles. The challenge I'm facing is how to effectively tailor my resume to showcase my skills in a way that makes me attractive to a wider range of positions, without coming off as generic. I’m also concerned about the transition back to an in-person work environment. My last few jobs were remote, and I haven't interacted with friends or colleagues in person for a long time. I wonder if I’ll experience some kind of culture shock when I return to a traditional office setting. I’m looking for advice on how to update my resume and any tips for navigating this job search process after such a long break.
