I recently accepted a job offer and am currently going through the background check process. However, I encountered a significant issue with the employment dates listed by the background check company. I’ve worked two different jobs in the past four years, and the background check inaccurately states that I worked at my first job until August 1st, which is incorrect. I provided HR with the correct dates on my application, but they insisted on using the erroneous dates from the background check. For instance, my first job should be listed as 6/24 to 5/25, but it shows 6/23 to 8/26. The discrepancy for my second job is also problematic, as it lists 7/25 to 1/26. I’m baffled as to why HR is making this a big issue when the correct information was provided. Additionally, the background check company even asked for proof of my high school attendance, which seems ridiculous since I'm only 29. I'm waiting for HR to escalate this to a higher authority, but I'm feeling confused and frustrated about how a simple error is turning into a major hurdle.
