I’m considering removing my most recent degree from my resume to boost my chances of landing a job. I've heard mixed opinions on this approach, but I’m curious if anyone has had success with it. Some people mentioned that when they took their degrees off, they started getting callbacks almost immediately, especially in fields like IT where they relied more on certifications and experience. One person shared that they did this years ago and while it helped them get interviews, they ended up being lowballed on salary because they were behind their peers. I’ve been applying for jobs for a while now without much luck, and I’m starting to wonder if my education is working against me. I’ve also read that sometimes having a degree can make employers think you’re overqualified, leading them to discard your application. I’m 8 years out of college and haven’t used my degree in my career, so I’m leaning towards removing it. I just want to make sure my experience and skills shine through instead. Has anyone else tried this? What was your experience like?
