I recently had an interview for a Member Care position at one of the largest privately owned companies in my state. The job seemed to focus on customer service, primarily B2B, and I was informed that I would be working in a phone bank and responding to emails. The department was created about a year ago due to the company's growth, but I learned that 10 people had quit shortly after the phone bank started because they didn't want to handle the calls. They assured me that they now had the right team in place. I was told this position could serve as a foot in the door, giving me exposure to various departments like marketing, legal, and IT. The pay was set at $20 an hour, which is typical for Northern Indiana, but I found out that about $15 would be deducted from my paycheck for parking fees. One of the interview questions caught me off guard: they asked if I would choose a box of Legos with instructions or one with a mix of pieces. I'm left wondering if these were red flags or if I'm just overthinking it.
