I’ve been reflecting on my career path since I got laid off from my corporate sales position earlier this year. After months of interviewing with various companies, often reaching the final rounds, I’m starting to question whether pursuing a corporate job is worth it anymore. The process has been long and exhausting, with interviews dragging on for weeks only to face rejection for seemingly trivial reasons. I know that if I apply to 100 jobs this week, I’ll likely receive some responses, but the thought of going through another lengthy interview process only to potentially face another layoff is daunting. It’s disheartening to see so many people in the same boat, struggling to find stable income while companies continue to make layoffs. HubSpot just laid off a significant number of employees and there’s talk of more layoffs to come, which adds to my anxiety about the future. I feel trapped because my living expenses require me to find a job, yet I’m left wondering what the point is if the security isn’t there. I’m curious about what the job market will look like in the coming years, especially for someone in sales like me. I’ve heard that building something on the side could be an alternative, but that requires time and resources I don’t currently have. It’s a tough situation out there, and I’m left feeling uncertain about my next steps.
