I have a growing concern that my company is preparing to outsource. I work at the headquarters of a firm, and I've recently realized that the lease for our building wasn't renewed. A few months back, we were told to expect information about a new location by the end of the year, but now I'm starting to doubt there will even be a new site. Over the past two months, four positions in my department have been terminated, and they have no plans to fill those roles due to economic reasons. They've assured us that 'no one else's job will be affected,' but it feels increasingly uncertain. Additionally, they've brought in about four temporary workers without any intention of making them permanent. Recently, we had a major promotion that offered 50-70% off for customers willing to double their orders, which seems like a desperate move. A year ago, they let go of about 90% of our US accounting department and replaced them with workers in Costa Rica. I'm unsure how long this outsourcing process typically takes or how soon I should start looking for another job. It seems like no one else in my department has caught on to these changes, and there hasn't been any discussion about it in the office.
