I recently learned that my company is implementing a hiring freeze and may be considering layoffs. I started my job a few months ago and am currently in my probationary period, which has me feeling anxious about my job security. Until now, I felt pretty safe as I've received consistent praise for my work from both coworkers and managers. I’m the only one on my team who hasn’t called out sick, and my presence is valued. However, with the company facing financial difficulties, I can’t shake the worry that I might be among those let go when my probation ends. I’ve heard that the last in, first out policy is common during layoffs, and while I hope my performance will keep me safe, I know I need to prepare for the worst and possibly start looking for new opportunities.
