Navigating family dynamics after my recent layoff and avoiding difficult conversations

I haven't told my family about my recent layoff yet, and it's been a couple of weeks since it happened. I’m specifically avoiding conversations with my parents and siblings because I know my mom would expect me to have more free time and would likely want me to help her out with various tasks around the house. Even when I visit, I end up doing chores like cutting the grass or fixing appliances, and while she does pay me, it's definitely below market rates. My dad is retired and tends to get bored, so I worry he would expect more of my attention and might even throw my layoff in my face or give unsolicited advice based on his own experiences. It feels a bit embarrassing to share, especially since the layoff wasn't due to my performance. I know there are some relatives who might be happy to hear the news, but I’m hesitant because of the dynamics in my family. I’m just not sure when or if I should bring it up.
