I’ve been working at my job in Minnesota for five years, but recently my situation has changed dramatically. For the past 4.5 years, I was a full-time employee, but this year my hours were cut to casual-time. This change coincided with my health deteriorating; I’ve been struggling with my energy levels and mental well-being, which has led to increased absences. I’ve utilized FMLA, but there have been days when I simply couldn’t wake up in time to notify my employer about my condition, which has been really stressful. I recently had a meeting regarding my attendance, and I was warned that more absences could lead to termination. Right now, I’m still technically employed, but I’m worried about my future since my hours have been significantly reduced and I face the possibility of being let go. I’m trying my best to keep up with work, but the anxiety of oversleeping and missing shifts has me feeling panicked. I’m considering applying for partial unemployment benefits, but I’m confused about my eligibility given that my hours were cut due to my health issues rather than a lack of work from the employer. I’m feeling lost and unsure about what steps to take next.
