I recently received a job offer that was about $5,000 to $10,000 lower than what I was hoping for. I'm definitely planning to negotiate because I know it would really bother me to accept an offer that doesn't meet my expectations. I have a few interviews lined up with other companies and I'm still waiting to hear back from two others, so I have options. I'm curious about others' experiences with salary negotiations—do employers typically lowball offers? When you counter-offered, how did that go for you? Also, I'm wondering if it's better to call or email after receiving an offer to negotiate. Any advice would be appreciated!
