I recently lost my job, which I truly enjoyed, due to my own mistakes. This year has felt like a complete joke. After leaving my previous position as an HR Assistant at a corporate company where I worked for three years, I was hopeful about transitioning into an accounting role, which aligns with my university studies. However, I was let down by the company owner and ended up taking a poorly paid job as a Financial Administrator. Unfortunately, most of my work consists of secretarial tasks that I despise. After seven years of living independently, I had to move back in with my parents, which has been a tough adjustment. I've been searching for jobs daily, but the market seems stagnant, especially since many companies are only hiring for on-site or hybrid positions, limiting opportunities for those of us outside major cities. It's disheartening to see jobs like a barista at Starbucks offering higher pay than my current role, especially considering my qualifications. I miss my corporate life and feel stuck in a job that doesn’t reflect my skills or aspirations. I regret leaving my HR position, but it feels like there's no turning back now.
