Today marks Day 2 of my layoff from my position, and I find myself in a bit of a dilemma. My coworker has been reaching out, asking me to send her some files that she could easily access herself, as both she and her husband have the necessary permissions. My official termination letter states that my last day is August 31st, but the CEO graciously allowed me to take the entire month off with full pay. I’m unsure if I should respond to her requests or just ignore them. Part of me thinks I could simply say that I can’t log in anymore, but I also feel like it’s not my responsibility to help her out at this point. I ultimately decided to tell her no. It feels good to set boundaries during this transition.

I have just two weeks left until I officially get laid off from my job as an e-commerce clerk at a hardware company. This was my first job after graduating, and I was responsible for managing the entire backend process, which included keying in 100-200 orders daily and reconciling invoices with payments in our accounting system. Recently, my company decided to automate the backend process to reduce stock discrepancies, which has significantly cut down my workload. I can now complete my tasks in just an hour each day instead of the entire workday. I suspect that this reduction in workload is a key reason for my impending termination. Additionally, I made mistakes on a new task my supervisor assigned me at the last minute, just two hours before the end of my shift on a Friday. He only provided minimal guidance and expected it to be done urgently for a soft opening on Monday. A week later, he blamed me for the errors, which feels unfair given the circumstances. I can't shake the feeling that he might have set me up to take the fall, possibly to impress the CEO. I don’t have a backup plan and honestly just want to take a break from job hunting for a few months to play games. Luckily, I have enough savings to last about six months, and my bills are manageable.
