I just got a job offer starting Monday after being unemployed for over a year, and I’m feeling really scared about it. A friend referred me, and I honestly exaggerated my skills during the interview process. I even used AI to create a PDF roadmap of my potential contributions to the company, which now feels like a huge gamble. Looking at my offer letter, the roles and responsibilities outlined are intimidating, and I can’t shake the feeling that I might get laid off once they realize I’m not as qualified as I claimed to be. Has anyone else felt this way before starting a new job?

I'm currently at a crossroads in my job search after a challenging period. I have a background in international BPO roles from 2019 to 2024, but I had to take a two-year break due to a road accident. Now, I have two job offers, and I'm feeling quite overwhelmed. The first offer is from a marketing company where I would work as a customer experience specialist. My role would involve training their clients' customer-facing teams, which means I need to create a structure for calling and monitoring. However, this company is only 7 months old and can't provide any training, so I'd have to figure everything out on my own. They’re offering 45K per month for the first three months, increasing to 65K after that, but there’s no PF or medical insurance. I’m also worried because I’ve exaggerated my skills to meet their expectations, and I fear they might find out and let me go, which would be disastrous since I need job stability after my break. The second offer is from a BPO company located just 3 kilometers from my home, offering 4.25 LPA for a collections process. The manager mentioned that I would need to do overtime and sometimes work on my days off, which is typical for BPO jobs, and they have rotational shifts. Financially, I’m in a tight spot and have some debt due to my recovery, which makes the first offer more appealing in terms of salary. However, the travel requirement of 100 kilometers once or twice a week is daunting, especially considering the brutal local train conditions during peak hours. I’m really struggling with confidence after my unemployment and recovery, and I need to make the right choice for my future. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
