  1. 1

I'm 17 years old and have never attended high school due to severe mental health issues and a lot of instability in my life. I plan to start GED courses once I turn 18, which is a requirement in my area. I've never had a job before, but I'm eager to find something simple, like a retail position. I've been considering applying to Michael's because I think the environment would be manageable for me, unlike fast-food jobs which I know I couldn't handle. I've felt incredibly isolated throughout my teenage years and only made a few friends recently. Social situations have been challenging for me, often leading to anxiety attacks. However, I've been working on improving my social skills by attending local live music shows. Still, I feel like I lack basic knowledge and skills that most people my age have. I don't have a resume, any prior work experience, or special skills. I know it's possible to get a job, but I'm unsure where to start. Many online applications ask for educational background, which I don't have, and I worry that my applications won't even be considered. I'm also anxious about how to approach asking for a job in person and what that process entails. I really want to gain work experience and contribute to society, but I'm feeling lost and would appreciate any advice or guidance on how to move forward.

    Company: Michael's

    Job title: retail position
