  1. 1

Today, I received some difficult news at work. My role as a team lead is being consolidated with another team lead in a different region. The other lead has been with the company for 27 years, while I've only been here for 8. I've been asked to stay on until January 15th to help transition my duties, after which I can apply for the newly created position. If I decide not to apply or if I'm not selected, I will receive three months of severance pay. Honestly, the company has changed a lot in the past year since the new CEO took over, and not for the better. I'm feeling uncertain about whether I want to continue working here, but I feel compelled to apply for the new role. I'm also considering using the next few months to actively search for a new job. I've been reading advice from others who have been through similar transitions, and many suggest that applying for the new position is a good idea, even if I might not want to stay. It could provide some financial security while I look for other opportunities. I plan to apply and continue my job search simultaneously, as it seems like the best way to navigate this situation.
