Today, I received the news that I was laid off from my job just a few days after undergoing major surgery. I’m still in recovery, dealing with medications and waiting for biopsy results, and the timing of this layoff feels particularly harsh. The message I received was respectful and explained that it was a business decision, but that doesn’t lessen the emotional impact of losing my job right now. I’m feeling a mix of fear and numbness, and it’s hard to process everything that’s happening all at once. I know that health should come first, and I plan to focus on my recovery, but the uncertainty of what comes next is weighing heavily on me.
