I was let go today from my position as a server administrator and network administrator after seven years with the company. The lead developer, who had been there for ten years, was also terminated. We both received access revocation emails across various systems, followed by a call from the CEO. It was a straightforward conversation about major budget cuts, and it was clear that the company is shifting towards using AI, specifically an Anthropic subscription, to replace our roles. While I understand the business perspective behind this decision, it still hurts to part ways after so long. I had a feeling this was coming; the signs were evident. Now, I need to start looking for a new job and figure out my next steps.
