I've been with my current company for six years, working at site A, and I'm feeling really unhappy in my role. I've done everything there is to do, and there's no room for advancement, which has led to feelings of isolation and burnout. Earlier this year, I was on burnout leave and returned to a performance review that indicated I needed improvement, which I managed to pass, but it's been tough. Currently, I have a 20-minute commute each way and can work from home two days a week, but I'm still feeling unfulfilled. There's an open position at site B, which would significantly expand my scope and come with a salary increase. However, site B is three hours away by car from site A. Luckily, the company provides a daily shuttle that I could take, which means I wouldn't have to drive myself. The schedule would have me leaving site A at 7 am, arriving at site B by 10 am, working until a bit after 5 pm, and then getting home around 9 pm. This would allow me to relax or catch up on reading during the commute. I had an interview for the position, and they want someone permanently at site B. If I were willing to relocate, I believe they would offer me the job right away, but I'm not looking to move right now due to my husband's job and the kids. They mentioned the possibility of me coming up one or two days a week via the shuttle, which could work if I spend a night there or split it over two days. I'm just unsure how sustainable this arrangement would be for me in the long run, especially considering I have about 15 years until retirement.
